The ascent to the top of Slieve Donard is one that is strewn with cascading water falls, beautiful Glens and rocky paths. At any time of the year it is an amazing place to walk after heavy rain fall or the first fall of winter snow. The early part of the journey begins in Donard car park and while the first 500 yards is a steep climb it is compensated by the beautiful sight of water falls, forest and rocky trails. All of which adds to the mountain climb adventure.
