Slieve Donard
They say that the "mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea", that I guess some would say is obvious but what a lovely way to describe our national treasure. There is not a day that goes by that someone makes the decision for the first time to climb Slieve Donard. For some they have to climb it simply because it`s there, for others they find it the most invigourating place to walk, to think and to reflect.
Over a period of ten years I have had the joy and challenge of climbing to the top of slieve Donard some 300 times. I never get tired of the opportunity to put on the walking boots and head off in all of the seasonal conditions to enjoy the immense beauty of the cascading waterfalls, the tree lined glens, the rugged trails, the freshness of the winter air, the snow clad summit in winter and collect the memories that linger long after the return journey from the top is over.
On this site I hope you can glimpse a few of the magnificient experiences that capture our attention as we ascend Slieve Donard which most assuredly is one of the most beautiful adventures that one can experience on this little island they call Ireland.
